This year is the 20th Anniversary of Gibson making acoustic guitars in Bozeman Montana. To celebrate they have made 20 J-45 African Zebrawood Custom guitars. Zebrawood or Zebrano are the common names for Microberlinia which is harvested from central Africa (Gabon, Cameroon and Congo). It is a heavy hardwood with a fairly coarse texture making it difficult to work with. The heartwood is a pale golden yellow color with narrow streaks of dark brown to black. This set has an Antique Natural finish which gives it a look similar to mahogany. The tone of Zebrawood is similar to Indian Rosewood with a slightly scooped midrange, full bass and crisp trebles with lots of overtones. This guitar also features a custom "Parquet" top trim, historic Firestripe pickguard and a 20th Anniversary label making for a very cool limited guitar!
