Thai-Austrian Friendship Concert "Pannonian Guitar Quartet & Silpakorn Guitar Ensemble"
Wednesday 28 November 2012, 19:00 @ Ratchada Music Auditorium in the ground floor of fortune town building Radchadapiswk Road by MRT Station Rama 9
The Pannonian Guitar Quartet has been founded in January, 2012, in Eisenstadt. The Idea was put
forward by Tanja Partl, who after longstanding quartet experience was seeking for suitable
musicians for a new quartet. Shortly after, Romana Schirmer and Jonas Simonis decided to join,
both qualified and motivated musicians and fellow students in the guitar class of Prof. Gabriel
Guillen at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt. Christoph Spath, who already finished his
Concert Diploma and Instrumental Pedagogics studies in 2009, completed the ensemble.
The first rehearsals were held in the beginning of 2012, in April the quartet gave its first
performance at the International Guitar Festival Rust. Further concerts followed, among others in
Vienna and Eisenstadt. A concert abroad for the opening of the International Summer Guitar
Academy Balf, Hungary, completed the successful concert season.
For the rest of 2012 further concerts are planned in Austria. Another highlight will follow in
November, when the quartet will travel to Bangkok for recitals and master classes at invitation of
guitar virtuoso Nutavut Ratanakarn, head of the Bangkok Guitar Society. Ratanakarn met the
quartet at the Guitar Festival Rust.
The program consists mainly of repertoire spanning from the romantic period to contemporary
classical music, and is perpetually supplemented with works from all epochs, as well as with own
arrangements and commissioned works.
