เพลง Memory จาก ละครเพลงบรอดเวย์ CATS

เรื่องราวตกอับ ของชีวิตของ Grizabella บอกเล่าอยู่ในเพลง Memory ซึ่งเป็นเพลงที่มันร้องนั่นเอง
"Midnight,not a sound from the pavement,
has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone
In the lamp light the withered leaves collected my feet
And the wind begins to moan

....Memory... All alone in the moonlight...
I can smile at the old day...I was beautiful then..."
I remember the time I knew what happiness was.
Let the memory live again.


ในฉากท้ายสุดที่ Grizabella ปรากฏตัวนั้น มันร้องเพลง Memory จนจบเพลง เนื้อเพลงท่อนสุดท้ายมีใจความว่า

"...Thouch me...It's so easy to leave me...
All alone with my memory...Of my days in the sun...
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is...
Look a new day....Has begun..."

Touch หรือการสัมผัสนั้น คือการแสดงความยอมรับนั่นเอง เพราะทั้งเรื่องก่อนหน้านี้ แมวทุกตัวจะหนีห่าง ไม่ยอมแตะต้อง Grizabella เลย ซึ่งเนื้อร้องท่อนนี้ อาจตีความ(เอาเอง)ได้ว่า หากยอมรับ (และอาจรวมถึงให้อภัย) Grizabella ได้แล้ว ก็จะสามารถเข้าใจได้ว่าความสุขนั้นคืออะไร และวันใหม่ หรือชีวิตใหม่ที่แมวทุกตัวใฝ่หา ก็จะเริ่มขึ้น

แล้วเรื่องก็จบลงด้วยดี แมวทุกตัวยอมรับ Grizabella กลับเข้าฝูงอีกครั้ง และ Grizabella ก็ได้รับเลือกให้เป็นผู้ได้รับชีวิตใหม่
