Since you mention about Somogyi, I happened to have a custom-made guitar that was made for me by Greg Gwaltney the up-coming American luthier few years ago. It was his 2nd guitar and after he made me that one he went to Ervin Somogyi master class and he told me that he had learnt a lot from that class (It was an extremely expensive class though) and had made quite a leap in his profession.

I have also heard only the good things from the people already taking his class. Most reported in the same way that he taught you to "think" about why this and that work rather than just giving a recipe for making a good guitar which I think that is more important. Although expensive, USD 3,500 for a week course, many said it is worth every penny.

Anything created by him is not cheap, anyway. I am now interested in his books but it will take me quite a while before I could acquire them. Poor me
