ผมเคยใด้มีโอกาสลองเสียง Lowden มาเกินสิบตัว บางตัวก็เสียงแปลกฯแต่ก็ไม่
เคยรู้ว่าทำไม เมื่อวานเพิ่งใด้รับอีเมล์จากฝรั่งที่ Northen Ireland ที่บอกว่า
ใด้คุยกับ George Lowden แกเตือนว่ามี Lowden บางล้อตที่สร้างผิดจากสเปคของแกตอนที่แกไม่ใด้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับโรงงาน กีต้าร์ล้อตนี้มีดีบ้างไม่ดีบ้างก่อนซี้อ
ควรลองก่อนทุกตัว

ตอนนี้กระแส Lowden กำลังมาแรงผมเลยอยากถ่ายทอดข้อมูลให้คนที่กำลังเสาะ
หา Lowden จากต่างประเทศให้ทราบใว้ครับ

Lowden ล้อตแรกที่เสียงดีแต่ราคาถูกคือ รุ่นที่ผลิตโดย S. Yairi ประมาณสามพัน
ตัวจากปี 1981-1985 ครับ ถ้าเจอรุ่นป้ายสี่เหลี่ยมพวดนี้ราคาซื้อขายอยู่ประมาณ
ครึ่งเดียวของ Irish Lowden นะครับ



ส่วนช่วงเวลาที่กีต้าร์ Lowden มีปัญหาลองอ่านดูครับ

June 2000: Differences had begun to develop between the directors of the company. After a period, unable to influence the direction or policies of the Lowden Guitar Company, George felt that his position within the company had become very ambiguous. Reluctantly, George decided to resign as a director. He would continue to influence quality solely through the provisions of the design licence first established in 1989, whilst continuing to build his own custom guitars in his workshop at home.

August 2000 to September 2001 A series of decisions were made within the Licensee Company (the Lowden Guitar Company) without reference to George, concerning guitar specifications and quality control. George discovered the effects of these decisions later during visits to the factory, and this severely damaged his confidence that the integrity of his guitar designs and specifications would be maintained or indeed that the terms of the licence were being respected. After many failed attempts to establish alternative dispute resolution processes over a period of some 11 months, George served a high court writ for what he believed were serious breaches of contract. The company denied all charges, and after more than 18 months of legal action including a counterclaim by the company and additional claims by George, the matter was finally settled by agreement at the court door. The aim of this agreement was to allow a way forward for both parties by limiting further damage and providing a basis for separation.

23rd February 2003:
Following 18 months of formal legal action, George Lowden succeeded in terminating the licensing agreement with the Lowden Guitar Company as part of a ?court door? settlement. All rights to the Lowden designs revert solely to George Lowden from 1st January 2004. This agreement ends a 4 -year relationship with the newest directors of the Lowden Guitar Company but allows a transition period where the company can continue making Lowden guitars until the end of 2003. This period also allows George time to plan the new phase of the Lowden business. As a part of this agreement, George agrees to pay a small levy for each Lowden guitar produced in excess of 2000 for the first three-year period.

Lowden ล้อตนี้เริ่มจาก serial number หมื่นต้นฯครับ ถ้าไม่ใด้ลองของจริงไม่ควรซื้อเด็ดขาด

ส่วนล้อตปัจจุบันที่ผลิตในโรงงานใหม่ที่ลูกชายของ George เป็นคนคุมไม่เกี่ยวนะครับ รุ่นนี้เริ่มผลิตปลายปี 2005 และเป็นป้ายสี่เหลี่ยมครับ

Hi Everyone

Seeing I have to deal with the consequences of guitars which have become too dry on a regular basis here's my take on the humidifiers issue. Careless use of certain types of soundhole humidifiers will result in some water dripping onto the inside of a guitar. In my experience this has never been a serious problem in that it has never been bad enough to cause structural problems. It is important in dry areas or in centrally heated homes during winter, to pay attention to keeping your guitar reasonably humidified. If you don't, then you run the risk of cracking, lowering of string action and even the bridge "curling" slightly and popping off! If you can humidify the room where the guitar generally is kept and/or the guitar case itself, then that is a better option than a soundhole humidifier, but as a travel back up or if no room humification is available, the soundhole type is quite effective. Don't over fill them and they should not cause problems..... Safe Relative humidity readings are 45-60%. Below 40% will dry out your guitar. Above 65% will make it swell up a tad.

Another thing you can do is to use fingerboard oil twice a year or so both on the bridge and fingerboard. This will help and slow down temporary drying out of the bridge. Low tech ways of keeping the guitar humidified include cutting a potato in half and letting it dry out inside the case pocket. Also some plant life and small amounts of water to evaporate into the room also can help.

ปัญหาของ Lowden อีกอย่างคือ
ผมค่อนข้างงงกับ serial no. และปีผลิตครับ

เพราะไปลอง O38 ของ อ.แตง serial no. 7xxx ใกล้เคียงกับ Bubinga มาก แต่ลงไว้ว่าผลิตปี 1988

ผมเองเคย Email ไปหาตาจอร์จเรื่อง serial no. และปีผลิตตั้งแต่ O12 ตาจอร์จไม่เห็นตอบกลับมาเลยอ่ะ

Lowden ไม่ใด้เก็บ record แบบ Martin ครับแต่ยังพอเดาใด้จากจำนวนที่ผลิตในแต่ละปี

จากปลายปี 1985 ถึง 1988 Lowden ที่ตอนนั้นเป็นแค่ shop เล็กฯผลิตใด้ทั้งหมดแค่ห้าร้อยกว่าตัวครับ
Lowden ยุคนั้นป้ายจะเล็กกว่าป้ายยุคหลังอย่างในรูปด้านล่างครับ



ในปี 1988 Lowden ก็ล้มละลายและปิดกิจการลง George อพยพไปอยู่ฝรั่งเศษทั้งครอบครัว ในปี 1989 มีนายทุนท้องถิ่นลงขันกันเปิดโรงงานใหม่ให้และเริ่มผลิตปีละประมาณพันตัวในปี 1990 เป็นต้นมา

ดังนั้นถ้า serial number เจ็ดพันกว่าจะเป็นปี 1996 ครับแต่ถ้าเป็นป้ายเล็กนี่
ผมไม่ทราบเหมือนกันว่าตา George แกใช้หลักการอะไรในการใส่ serial number
แต่ต่อให้นับจากตัวแรกที่แกทำรวมถึงพวกที่ทำในญี่ปุ่นด้วยก็ไม่น่าถึงเจ็ดพันนะครับ

เจ้าเวบเป็ดดีลักซ์ เคยเข้าไปดูทีนึงครับ แต่มันโบราณจัง...

ปีละประมาณ 1000 ตัวนี่...เฉลี่ยวันละ 2-3 ตัวเอง

พอบวก-ลบ จากที่เขียนอธิบายไว้ ก็ทำให้ได้คำตอบนั่นเอง

Your Lowden guitar is warranted through our workshop or an authorised Lowden repairer, no repairs must be undertaken without written authority.

ตาจอร์จคงกะให้ซื้อไปแล้วห้ามขายต่อ ใครซื้อต่อหรือทำ proof of purchase หายก็ต้องทำใจเรื่อง a limited lifetime warranty กันล่ะ

เรื่องรับประกันก็เป็นแบบนี้เกือบทุกยี่ห้อแหละครับคือต้องเป็นคนซื้อคนแรกเท่านั้น มีอยู่ยี่ห้อเดียวที่เป็น transferable warranty
แต่ตอนนี้ยังนึกไม่ออกว่าคือยี่ห้ออะไร

นอกจากนี้แล้วเกือบทุกยี่ห้อรวมทั้ง Martin และ Taylor ถ้าขายนอกอเมริกาจะรับประกันเพียงหนึ่งปีนะครับ ถ้าซื้อในอเมริกาก็รับประกัน
ตลอดชิวิตนอกจากซื้อใน eBay นี่เขาไม่รับประกันครับ การเคลมประกันก็ต้องติดต่อกับ authorized service center ที่ในเมืองไทย
ไม่มีซักยี่ห้อ ถ้าส่งอเมริกานี่ซ่อมฟรีแต่ค่าส่งไปกลับเกือบฯสองหมื่นบาทครับ

การมีกีต้าร์ดีๆสักตัวนี่มันไม่หมูเลยแฮะ เมื่อก่อนผมจะไปเดินหลังกระทรวง เก็บเงินไว้แล้วไปลองตัวที่ถูกใจ ต่อราคาลงเกือบครึ่งจนทะเลาะกับอาม่าอาแปะ ได้ราคาที่ชอบก็ซื้อมานอนกอดที่บ้าน แต่เดี๋ยวนี้มีทั้งของปลอมของแท้โรงงานที่นู่นที่นี่ ล๊อตนู้นล๊อตนี้ โง่ๆเช่นผมนี่ถ้ามีตังค์คงโดนหลอกตาย ล่ะครับ อิอิ
